Basic Info
Smilers, sometimes referred to as Marmalisers (Risis Aeternum), are an artificial species of lizard found in the Avidran country of Loulea. Though their true origins are unknown, they are thought to have originated from neighboring universe Polibius. Smilers have existed in Avidra for an amount of time beyond human comprehension. Standing at an average height of 12-16 feet (exaggerated to be up to 98 feet according to legend), this species of lizard is most well-known for its ability to ‘marmalise,’ or brainwash targets into an overwhelming and indefinite state of joy. It can fly freely in the air with its highly flexible body, able to achieve 14 inversions within a single minute.
'Marmalization'
A Smiler will marmalise for many reasons: irritation, annoyance, entertainment, aggression, and most commonly: fear. Marmalisation requires the creature to use at least one of its many ‘marmalisation tools.’ These tools include the inoculator, flasher, hypnotizer, and giggler.
Side Effects:
Memory loss
Insanity
Night terrors
Loss of sight, hearing, and/or touch
Paralysis
Numbness to all emotions but joy
Long-term nausea
Psychosis
Amnesia
Complete loss of ability to sleep
Long-term appetite loss
And in rare cases, death
Tools
Inoculator: A long, pointy tendril at the end of the tail, the inoculator is used to inject serums into the bloodstream. The serums in question cause a feeling of complete loss over one’s thoughts, and is just the beginning of the average marmalisation process.
Hypnotizer
Hypnotizer: Present around the animal's neck, these ellipses gain a hypnotic pattern and swirl at high speeds to hypnotize a target into an overly joyous state. If they’re stared at for long enough, they may have irreversible effects. When inactive, they simply look like an accessory.
Flasher: Along the underbelly are a series of bioluminescent patches of skin that can flash brightly to disorient and even attract victims. If stared at for long enough, they may cause temporary or permanent blindness depending on the Smiler.

Giggler: An organ located near the lungs is always filled with a gas that inflicts laughter. This gas is constantly exhausted into the air, which may cause slight laughter just by being around it. When used as a tool, the gas is aimed at a target to inflict laughter.
Biology
Smilers appear to be genderless. Each one has been discovered to be completely hermaphroditic; containing both female and male parts necessary to reproduce. Their reproductive anatomy can be compared to that of a snake.
The skeletal anatomy has both canine and reptilian features. It is a vertebrate, having a backbone that reaches 25 feet long on average. It has two sets of jaws; a ‘false jaw,’ appearing dull and friendly, and a ‘true jaw,’ a devastating maw that can rip up prey at an impressive 5,034 psi (per square inch). The true teeth are sharp enough to pierce flesh with little pressure. The false ‘ears’ on the top of its head appear to be horns sticking out of the skull. Similar to a gecko, it stores its food in a ‘food pouch’ located in its throat. Its tail can wiggle from side to side like a domestic dog, and its limbs are a fascinating cross between canine and reptilian limbs.
Weak Points
Smilers, as great as they seem, have their weakness (as all animals do.) It cannot live without its hypnotiser under any circumstances; any sort of injury to the hypnotiser results in immediate death.
The tip of its nose also appears to be rather weak. If enough pressure is applied, the animal will become paralyzed. Smilers are very easily distracted, which makes it easier to hit these areas. Under no circumstances can a Smiler inhale smoke from fire- smoke will clog up the Giggler and cause suffocation.
